The Lovely Bones (2009)

Regardless of the reasons, the bottom line is that The Lovely Bones doesn't work, and that's a disappointment.

It's all a gorgeous error, a bonfire of overreach, from the (long-winded, too serious and overrated) "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson.

"The Lovely Bones" is probably a much better idea for a book than it is a movie, but it's still a very good one...
